R&T Lofts is a 14 Story High-rise that is the former home of the Register & Tribune Newspaper, Iowa’s largest Newspaper since the early 1900’s. The scope of the project was to convert the building into Apartments. Due to the age of the building and it being designed for a major Newspaper, many structural changes were needed as well as aesthetic. 2 – 25’ tall HVAC blowers removed. Major ductwork removed from the exterior 6th floor roof. Removal of a 100’ long vertical protective cage from the alley side (with only a 16’ between buildings). Pipe Chase removed from top to bottom. Remove Spiral Newspaper slides from 3rd floor down to Parking Garage.
