This major bridge demolition consisted of three large concrete structures that spanned the Union Pacific Railroad's east-west line which parallels Smith Road in Denver, Colorado. Once the railroad rerouted the tracks, ESA, Inc. began removal of all the components of the Air Cargo Access Road Bridge and both the East and West Union Pacific Railroad Tunnels. The longest of the three structures was over 750 feet long. After the tunnels were removed, backfill was brought in and compacted to the stringent specifications required by Union Pacific and the entire 2,400 foot section was prepared for the track to be replaced.

ESA, Inc. took down a six story concrete parking structure one block north of the Colorado State Capitol in downtown Denver. The site was demanding due to the proximity of the two adjacent office buildings to both the North and South, Sherman Street to the east and an alley to the west. Extremely tight quarters, noise restrictions, and traffic issues were all challenges that added to the difficulty of this project. Safety is always a primary concern with ESA, Inc. and The State Parking Garage presented additional concerns because of the vast public exposure encountered. The safety measures instituted by ESA, Inc. accounted for our continuing excellence in regards to our safety record with no incidents.

ESA, Inc. demolished three concrete bridges at the former Stapleton International Airport site. Two of the bridges were built to support taxiways at the airport and the third a cargo access road. The two taxiway bridges consisted of four bays per bridge and spanned more than 40 feet. The Western-most structure extended 764 feet along the Sand Creek waterway and the eastern-most structure extended 222 feet.  Extra environmental controls were implemented in order to account for the unique challenge of working in a designated wetland area.  This is an example of where our environmental expertise bolsters our ability to perform effectively in the demolition industry.

One of the major strengths of ESA, Inc. is our ability to administer both the abatement and demolition scopes of work on a project. Hangar 10 is a good example of this. ESA, Inc. had both abatement crews and demolition crews working in conjunction to remove this hangar from the old Stapleton International Airport site. The hangar was built large enough to encompass a jumbo jet. ESA, Inc. also demolished the office building that housed the administrative functions for the

hangar. The office space needed to be abated before demolition could occur. Once the hangar was cleaned out of all interior structures ESA, Inc. worked with Chicago Explosives to implode the hangar structure.
