D. Michael Mitchell (President) started the company in 1982 that has grown into ESA, Inc. Through Mike’s direction ESA, Inc. has become a leader in the industry by supplying unique and innovative solutions for more than 25 years. His forward thinking and undeterred attitude has positioned ESA, Inc. well for future growth. Mike has turned a small family business into a truly integrated Environmental Services and Demolition firm. He has made strategic acquisitions, and expanded the business in key areas, such as demolition & soil remediation, in addition to acquiring a safety firm that has brought ESA to new levels of safety and preparedness. He has additionally worked to expand ESA’s reach nationally, which has increased its capacity to service clients, whose facilities stretch from coast to coast.

As the President of ESA, Inc. Mike oversees all aspects of the business. He is involved in estimating, project management, environmental compliance and safety. From his humble beginnings as owner of a drywall and insulation company and through 25 years as owner of ESA, he has accumulated a vast knowledge of both the environmental and demolition industries. It is more common to find Mike out on a job-site rather than sitting behind his desk. This hands on approach to running the business is refreshing to his loyal clients and long time employees alike.

David Johnson joined ESA, Inc. in 2006 as Safety Director. His main responsibility is to develop, implement, and oversee the safety program. Dave conducts training for all EPA, AHERA, HUD, State, and OSHA courses for company employees. He also investigates and manages all work related accidents involving personal injury or property damage.

Curtis W. Creager started with ESA, Inc. in August, 2006. He brings over thirty years of work experience in the construction industry - starting in 1971 as a heavy equipment operator to becoming Vice President/Co-Owner and Operations Manager of a well known Colorado Demolition, Excavation, and Remediation firm. His expertise includes every aspect of operations and level of management. At ESA, Curt is responsible for the entire demolition division, including all personnel and equipment.

Kristian has worked in the Construction, Demolition, and Abatement industries for over ten years. As ESA’s Director of Operations, he is instrumental on all projects ESA undertakes. Kristian takes a “hands on” approach, visiting most jobsites on a daily basis.

Since 2001, Kristian has overseen materials, manpower, disposal and scheduling of numerous high-profile jobs in the Colorado area. His considerable expertise and professionalism has cemented ESA’s reputation as a highly innovative and efficient full-service company. Working directly with contractors and clients, Kristian has forged enduring relationships between ESA and such organizations as Union Pacific Railroad, URS Corp, Ameritas Insurance, Omaha Public Power District, the City and County of Denver, and Jacobs Engineering.

Highlighting ESA’s large-scale capabilities for soil remediation, asbestos abatement, demolition and hazardous materials management, Kristian has supervised the majority of this yet ongoing project.

Auraria Science Center, the University of Colorado (2008): $1.8 million
Showcased ESA’s capacity to safely remove and transport over 30,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil in less than 6 weeks, while working in the heart of downtown Denver.

Community College of Aurora at Lowry (2008): $859,000
ESA safely excavated contaminated soil in the crawlspaces of the former Lowry Airforce buildings. Then ESA abated all asbestos and demolished the buildings, recycling a considerable amount of the structures.

Kory has been around the Abatement and Demolition business since childhood. He worked his way up from an assistant in the accounting department at ESA, Inc. to Director of Business Development and has extensive experience in client and sales relationships. Kory received an excellent education along the way, having studied at Oxford University and Northwestern University as well as being awarded the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to Belgium.
After his studies, Kory worked in political campaigns. He has served in an advisory role to Senator Joe Biden, and Senator Evan Bayh, and later worked as the Head Advisor of Finance Operations in Florida for Senator John Kerry’s run for President. Kory has worked in various races throughout the country, from a local to a statewide level. He continues to be involved politically, serving on Mark Udall’s Senate campaign Finance Committee. Since rejoining ESA, Kory has played a pivotal role in the company’s dynamic nationwide growth.

Tom has almost twenty years in the abatement industry and holds credentials as an Asbestos Inspector, Contractor and Supervisor. At ESA, he is a Senior Project Manager and Estimator. His broad experience encompasses projects of all sizes, in numerous US states and in a variety of conditions. Having begun his career as a laborer in the field, Tom has exceptional insight into the specifics of project management, planning and troubleshooting. With an expansive background in positions of responsibility, Tom draws upon his history of extensive real-world application for his work with ESA Inc.
